What makes a professional Christmas light installer? Is it just because you hired a guy to put up your lights? No. Would you know if he understands things like load, or wear, or proper equipment to use? It is extremely hard to tell who truly knows what they are doing and who does it to make a quick buck. Truly, however, you want to make sure that the guy putting lights on your house knows what he’s doing. He’s adding lights to your roof, potentially cutting and splicing wires that will sit in the elements for months on end. If he falls, you the homeowner could find yourself stuck with a hefty bill to cover his injuries. Honest you could be liable. If the lights he installs are put together in a half assed manor, you could find your home leveled by an electrical fire.
I do not write this to scare you, but to help you realize the real danger you could have. Do your homework. Find out how long this person has been doing lights. Make sure they have insurance on themselves and the business has insurance to cover the loss of your home.
